Soft tissue dermal fillers are an effective way to enhance lips, lift furrows and grooves, smooth lines around the mouth and restore a youthful resilience to your skin. This safe, non-allergenic treatment provides immediate, natural-looking results. At Skinworks, we offer hyaluronic fillers such as Restylane and Juvederm as well as Sculptra; an injectable material known as poly-L-lactic acid that naturally stimulates the body to produce its own collagen. As an expert in the field, Dr. Jang can recommend the appropriate dermal filler for you. You may be an ideal candidate for facial soft tissue fillers if you are feeling self-conscious about folds and wrinkles on the face and wish to feel more confident about the overall appearance of your skin.
Restylane and Juvederm
How they work
Restylane is made of non-animal-based hyaluronic acid, a natural substance that already exists in the human body. The hyaluronic acid in Restylane is a clear gel called NASHA™ or Non-Animal Stabilized Hyaluronic Acid. NASHA is completely biocompatible with human hyaluronic acid.
Juvéderm is a smooth consistency gel also made of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in your skin that helps to add volume and hydration. Juvéderm injectable gel is eased under the skin to provide a smooth, natural look and feel. In fact, studies show superior results of Juvéderm compared to a collagen-based soft tissue filler.
Normal activities can be resumed the day following treatment. Minor swelling and bruising may remain with some patients for a few days.
With Restylane and Juvéderm, the difference in appearance is immediately evident. Lips are fuller, acne scars are reduced and smile lines and wrinkles are less evident. Depending on your skin, lifestyle and age, you may choose to have a touch-up treatment within a year. As the face ages further, the skin will continue to change. Untreated and treated wrinkles may naturally deepen, requiring some additional injections over the years.
How it Works
Derived from fruity acids, Sculptra is a soft-tissue filler made from poly-L-lactic acid which naturally stimulates the body to produce its own collagen. By stimulating your own natural tissue production, Sculptra provides more scaffolding to improve the skin’s structural support. Commonly referred to as a "facelift in a bottle", Sculptra is a unique, nonsurgical option that offers a gradual, long-lasting way to rejuvenate the skin with results that can last two years or longer.
Preparation and Treatment
Because Sculptra is a synthetic biodegradable polymer that is absorbable and biocompatible, no skin pretesting is required. The number of treatment sessions required will depend on various factors such as age, amount of volume loss and the area(s) to be treated.
You may experience mild soreness, swelling, and/or minor bruising in the treatment areas for a few hours up to a few days after your Sculptra procedure. Makeup can be applied within a few hours of treatment. Following your treatment, massaging of treated areas is necessary to allow for the even distribution of the product and to promote natural-appearing results.
This minimally-invasive procedure creates a more youthful and oval face within two treatments and can last 2 years or longer. As the production of new collagen formation is gradual, additional treatments will yield more noticeable results. Generally, Sculptra is injected in 3 to 4 treatment sessions at 4 to 6 week intervals over the period of a few months. When injected into the appropriate areas, Sculptra can help improve fine lines, fill in hollowed areas of the cheeks, strengthen jaw lines and restore an attractive oval silhouette to the face.
